Job Purpose
Manage cash and cheque transactions at the teller counter while delivering quality customer service.
Adhere to operational controls and avoid cash excesses and shortages.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Process local- and foreign-currency cash deposits and withdrawals and balance cash at day end.
- Verify payment-cheque signatures and required approvals before disbursement.
- Accept and process clearing and collection cheques.
- Issue pay orders and drafts.
- Monitor cash deposits and note quality for unusual transactions, money laundering, and forgery.
- Escalate security concerns and unusual transactions to the Chief Teller, Branch Manager, or Branch Operations Manager.
- Maintain transaction-processing and customer-service standards.
- Manage branch cash and till positions, including large holdings and denominations.
- Act as custodian of the cash safe in the vault.
- Sort soiled notes and deposit them at the Central Bank.
- Meet assigned financial targets for assets and liabilities products.
- Perform other duties consistent with the role as assigned by management.
Education and Experience
- Higher Secondary School education is required.
- Two to three years of experience as a teller is required.
- Technical knowledge of negotiable instruments, such as cheques, is required.
Other Skills Required
- Knowledge of banking operations and techniques.
- Written and spoken communication skills in English and Arabic.
- Customer care skills.
- Organizing and planning skills.
- PC skills, including familiarity with banking software.
