Baytonia is seeking a hands-on Technology Lead to own the engineering function end to end.
The role manages a small development team, builds and ships features, and provides technical authority across e-commerce, ERP, payments, and automation.
The position is primarily focused on coding while ensuring the team delivers the right work quickly.
What You’ll Do
- Lead, mentor, and grow a small engineering team and set standards for code quality, reviews, and delivery.
- Own the health, performance, and roadmap of the e-commerce platform and ERP, including custom module development.
- Build integrations with payment and BNPL providers, logistics partners, SMS and notification services, and internal middleware.
- Design and ship internal web and mobile tools for sales, operations, and customer service.
- Drive workflow automation and evaluate AI tools such as conversational commerce and Arabic-language assistants.
- Ensure production reliability, security, and safe release practices.
- Translate business priorities into a technical roadmap and communicate progress to leadership.
What We’re Looking For
- Six or more years of software engineering experience, including two or more years leading or mentoring developers.
- Strong hands-on skills in a modern backend language such as PHP, Python, or Node.js, plus JavaScript or TypeScript.
- Real-world experience with e-commerce platforms and ERP systems.
- Experience integrating payment gateways, BNPL providers, webhooks, and RPC or REST services.
- Understanding of relational databases, background jobs, production debugging, idempotency, rollback safety, and careful production writes.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and deliver in a fast-moving retail environment.
- Fluent English is required; Arabic is a strong plus.
Nice to Have
- Mobile development experience using native or cross-platform technologies.
- Experience with RTL or Arabic localization in web and mobile products.
- Exposure to AI or LLM integrations such as chat assistants, WhatsApp commerce, or agent tooling.
- Experience in retail, e-commerce, or logistics companies in the GCC.
