Technical Supervisor

Role Overview

Team and Technical Leadership

• Lead day-to-day management and supervision of facilities-management colleagues, including absence management and cover planning.
• Provide technical guidance on mechanical and electrical systems and act as the first escalation point for maintenance colleagues.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and ongoing performance management.
• Undertake the Control of Works Authorised Person role and support identification of other Authorised Persons and Competent Persons.
• Coordinate technical meetings and toolbox talks.

Facilities and Maintenance Delivery

• Oversee operations, maintenance, repairs, replacements, consumables, and general facility upkeep.
• Investigate building faults, isolate and make safe where necessary, and refer issues to engineers or specialist contractors.
• Deliver maintenance across the cluster to BT specifications using the SI7 system.
• Optimize asset life and system performance while retaining accurate CAFM system data.
• Manage subcontractors and complete quality checks on their work.
• Ensure statutory compliance for planned maintenance works and maintain complete site documentation.

Procurement, Assets, and Reporting

• Coordinate with Procurement and Services to meet supplier delivery and performance objectives.
• Support development of new supplier relationships.
• Contribute to maintenance budget development and monitor budget compliance.
• Maintain inventory of tools, materials, PPE, and equipment.
• Review, update, and verify asset data and manage asset warranties and building defects.
• Approve monthly maintenance reports and KPI validation, including jeopardy management and SLA extension requests.

Safety and Operational Support

• Promote safe activity delivery and ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, quality, and COSHH requirements.
• Review method statements, risk assessments, technical diagrams, and communications.
• Assist with emergency and contingency plans.
• Support colleagues during peak workloads and provide holiday and sickness cover.
• Escalate customer dissatisfaction and operational issues to appropriate managers.

Person Specification

• Knowledge of more than one discipline such as mechanical, electrical, public health, water, or gas, with deeper expertise in at least one discipline backed by trade or professional qualifications.
• Thorough understanding of health and safety in a facilities-management environment and Control of Works processes.
• Proven record managing frontline technical operations and complex maintenance and repair operations.
• Ability to prioritize, plan, organize, and deliver work within expected timescales.
• Ability to manage risk, adapt to changing circumstances, and contribute to team effectiveness.
• Ability to produce high-quality reports using Microsoft Office and data from Tableau, SI7, or Power BI.
• Good commercial awareness and financial skills related to operational services.

Workplace

• The role supports a cluster of BT sites and includes on-site technical, maintenance, facilities, and customer-service activities.
• The role requires coordination across sites, operational incidents, contractors, suppliers, and facilities colleagues.
