Overview
To facilitate safe and healthy working environment by conducting comprehensive risk assessments, collaborating with laboratory managers and the facilities team, overseeing HSE aspects of the projects, providing expert advice and training, performing regular inspections, and ensuring compliance with local, and international regulations
Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical/environmental/Mechanical Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
- 6- 8 years of relevant full time experience an environmental, health, and safety role
- Professional certifications (e.g., Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), NEBOSH IGC, CHST, PMP, or similar) are preferred.
- Understanding of the academic research environment and culture.
- Technical proficiencies in one or more of the following: Chemical synthesis and reactive chemistry; mechanical or electrical engineering; laboratory ventilation and laboratory building design; high pressure systems; hazardous gas delivery systems, controls, and fabrication; process safety; shop safety.
- Experience in academic and research setting is a plus.
- Proven experience in conducting risk assessments, audits, and compliance reporting.
- In-depth knowledge of environmental and safety regulations such as OSHA, EPA, IOSH, NFPA, CDC, FEMA, DOT, and Qatar Environmental law.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Proficiency with relevant computer software and ISO management systems (ISO 14001, 45001, 9001).
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to draft and edit a variety of written reports and communications and to articulate ideas clearly and concisely; Arabic proficiency is an advantage.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, Power Bi and HSE management applications.
