Responsibilities

- Contribute to mentorship and supervision of postgraduate students, research assistants, and early career researchers
Requirements
- PhD in Climate Science, Atmospheric Science, Environmental Science, or related field
- Strong research track record in aerosol climate effects, including new particle formation, aerosol optical properties, and aerosol cloud interactions
- Experience in designing and leading field measurement campaigns
- Proficiency in data analysis and modeling (e.g., Python, R, MATLAB)
- Proven record of peer reviewed publications
- Ability to lead research funding applications
- Experience in mentoring students and early career researchers

Job Description
- The Qatar Environment & Energy Research Institute (QEERI) is seeking a highly motivated and impact driven Research Scientist to join our multidisciplinary team tackling critical environmental challenges related to the impacts of atmospheric aerosols on climate in arid regions.
- We are particularly interested in candidates with a strong research track record in and passionate about understanding quantifying climate effects of aerosols including new particle formation, aerosol cloud, optical properties and aerosol cloud interactions.
- The successful candidate will support and lead applied research that combines advanced measurement and characterization in coordination with our existing state of the art air quality and atmospheric composition capabilities and utilize them to advance modelling tools and capabilities.
- This role plays a key part in shaping our environmental health initiatives and supporting evidence based indoor air quality policy, guidelines and standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead the data analysis, interpretation of existing datasets on aerosol and climate effects and exploit them to advance the understanding and impact of this topic in arid regions.
- Design, execute, and lead field measurement campaigns characterising atmospheric aerosol properties including new particle formation events, size distributions, optical properties, and chemical composition.
- Investigate aerosol cloud interactions and their radiative forcing implications in arid and semi arid environments, with a focus on the Arabian Peninsula.
- Help integrate observational data with regional and global atmospheric models to quantify aerosol climate effects and improve predictive capabilities.
- Publish high quality, peer reviewed research in leading international journals and present findings at major scientific conferences.
- Engage in capacity building and stakeholder impact, including technical reporting and knowledge transfer to public institutions and policymakers.
- Lead and contribute to competitive research funding applications at national and international levels.
- Contribute to the mentorship and supervision of postgraduate students, research assistants, and early career researchers.
