Job Description
Technical Manager responsible for planning, designing, and overseeing data flows across systems and applications in Seaspan Marine Group's IT landscape.
The role manages data professionals and developers and oversees data ingestion, processing, integration, delivery, and data products.
Work Schedule
- The position qualifies for an optional hybrid work schedule after 90 days of onsite work and onboarding.
- The hybrid arrangement is subject to the Flexible Work Policy Agreement.
What You'll Do
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of data engineering and integration professionals.
- Own end-to-end delivery of a modern cloud data platform in the Azure environment.
- Design secure, scalable, cost-efficient, automated, monitored data solutions with strong quality and governance practices.
- Establish CI/CD standards for data pipelines and integrations.
- Lead data-platform initiatives, manage risks and dependencies, and maintain the delivery roadmap.
- Translate stakeholder requirements into data products and actionable insights.
- Report progress, outcomes, metrics, risks, and improvement opportunities to leadership.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
- At least 10 years of experience in data engineering, data integration, or data-platform roles.
- Experience leading, coaching, or mentoring technical teams.
- Experience with Azure architecture, APIs, ETL/ELT pipelines, production interfaces, and secure scalable data solutions.
- Experience with agile delivery, sprint planning, backlog management, Azure DevOps, and version-control tools.
- Experience configuring Azure environments, pipelines, storage, services, access controls, permissions, and security settings.
- Hands-on Python-based data engineering using PySpark, Pandas, and SQL or T-SQL.
- Knowledge of Azure Logic Apps, Oracle Integration Cloud, API integrations, or comparable middleware.
Technical Platform Skills
- Azure data engineering components include Data Lake or Blob Storage, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Unity Catalog, Azure SQL, and Microsoft Fabric.
- Advanced analytics or machine learning experience in Azure AI Foundry is considered an asset.
- Strong communication, prioritization, problem-solving, decision-making, delegation, collaboration, and stakeholder-engagement skills.
Compensation
- The estimated annual salary is CAD 126,000 to CAD 154,000.
- Final salary considers skills, experience, position location, internal equity, and total compensation factors.
- The full-time permanent position includes an annual bonus and pension plan matching.

Security Clearance
- The position may involve defense articles or technical data regulated by ITAR and the U.S. Arms Export Control Act.
