Role Objective
Resolve conflicts in civil, steel, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing designs and drawings.
Support the Design Engineer with solutions that reduce manpower, cost, or delivery time.
The position is full-time and performed in person.
Strategic Responsibilities
- Develop creative design, construction, and material solutions that improve project cost or schedule.
- Research advanced construction technologies and practical solutions.
- Lead the designers team and deliver construction drawings on time.
- Lead project coordinators in delivering coordinated drawings with high quality.
Drawing and Design Coordination
- Manage full drawing development for assigned projects.
- Coordinate consultants, clients, and company teams to develop compliant designs and obtain authority approvals.
- Interface with clients, consultants, and authorities to secure drawing approvals.
- Prepare drawing submittal logs in coordination with project planning.
- Coordinate steel, cladding, and MEP supplier drawings with estimators.
- Check and correct supplier drawing errors.
- Check compatibility across architectural, civil, MEP, steel, and cladding drawings.
- Incorporate client and consultant changes into shop drawings.
- Ensure updated Issued for Construction drawings are delivered to construction teams.
- Check as-built drawings and coordinate material submissions and approvals.
Project and Procurement Support
- Perform site visits to compare designs with actual site practices and improve practical construction knowledge.
- Maintain a library of standard constructible details with limited cost implications.
- Prepare bid packages for procurement and assist with technical proposal evaluations.
- Coordinate authority construction submissions and required clearances.
- Coordinate with project managers and estimators to resolve design, contract, and issued-drawing discrepancies.
- Maintain communication with project staff to identify problems and recommend solutions.
- Assist the Engineering Manager with the engineering section of end-of-job reports.
People Development
- Train and develop subordinates.
- Assist with training and development within the Engineering function.
- Perform other duties assigned by management.
Work Location
- Work is performed in person, with site visits as needed.
Requirements
- Ability to resolve conflicts across civil, steel, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing designs and drawings.
- Ability to develop compliant, coordinated construction drawings and design solutions.
- Ability to coordinate with clients, consultants, authorities, project managers, and subcontractors.
- Knowledge of practical building practices and the ability to compare designs with site conditions.
