Overview
The Technical Draftsman for Doors, Windows, and Facades is a specialized role responsible for
translating architectural concepts into detailed, buildable technical drawings (Shop Drawings) for
building exteriors, curtain walls, cladding, windows, and doors.
This role bridges the gap between
design intent and fabrication/installation, ensuring that all drawings comply with structural,
aesthetic, and building code requirements.
Draftsman Responsibilities
- Shop Drawing Production: Prepare detailed 2D CAD drawings and 3D models for facade
- systems, including curtain walls, cladding panels, glazing assemblies, and aluminum
- doors/windows.
- Technical Detailing: Create accurate elevations, sections, plans, and installation details,
- specifying all necessary materials and components.
- Coordination: Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, and project managers to
- resolve design conflicts (clashes) and ensure technical feasibility.
- Fabrication & Production Documents: Develop shop drawings, assembly drawings, and precise
- cutting lists (aluminum/glass) for factory production.
- Material Take-offs (MTO): Calculate material requirements accurately and assist in preparing
- Material Request Sheets (MRS).
- Compliance: Ensure all designs adhere to local building codes, safety regulations,
