Purpose
Provide advanced technical leadership and engineering direction across development initiatives.
Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, reliable, and aligned with enterprise architecture and engineering standards.
The role remains an individual contributor position.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership for a squad while remaining an individual contributor.
- Define technical approaches, engineering standards, and implementation patterns for assigned products.
- Lead technical design and development of complex systems and critical components.
- Facilitate squad ceremonies and own team-level delivery cadence and technical planning.
- Break down features into technical work and support estimation and sequencing with the Product Owner.
- Provide technical guidance to engineers and resolve complex engineering challenges.
- Review solution designs, code, and implementations for quality and architectural alignment.
- Drive engineering practices for scalability, security, performance, maintainability, and reliability.
- Ensure squad delivery meets change governance, release, and regulatory requirements.
- Evaluate technical options and recommend technologies, frameworks, and design patterns.
- Identify technical risks, dependencies, and constraints and recommend mitigations.
- Support architecture decisions and drive resolution of critical production issues.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Master’s degree is preferred.
- Five or more years of software engineering experience, including technical leadership of a delivery team.
- Deep expertise in backend or frontend engineering with strong breadth across the stack.
- Proven experience facilitating Agile delivery within a squad.
- Payments, banking, or regulated financial services experience.
- Relevant cloud architecture, software architecture, or professional certifications are preferred.
