Position Summary

  • The Teaching Assistant (Management) supports delivery of foundation and undergraduate management units within the School of Business at Curtin University Dubai.
  • The role is primarily teaching focused, involving tutorial delivery, assessment and marking, academic support for students, and collaboration with Unit Coordinators.
  • The role also contributes to immersive learning activities, industry engagement initiatives, and academic operations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct tutorials, seminars, and small group learning sessions as scheduled.
  • Review, contextualise, and deliver teaching and assessment materials provided by Curtin Perth and the School of Business.
  • Assist students in understanding course content, assessment requirements, and academic expectations.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, engagement, and participation.
  • Be available during published consultation hours to provide academic support.
  • Implement a range of effective and inclusive teaching methods.
  • Work collaboratively with academic staff and students.
  • Mark assignments, quizzes, examinations in accordance with approved marking rubrics.
  • Provide timely, constructive, and consistent feedback.
  • Participate in assessment moderation processes.
  • Support examination and assessment related activities, including invigilation.

Academic and Academic Support

  • Support end to end delivery of units by working closely with Unit Coordinators.
  • Oversee routine academic processes associated with assessments, learning systems, and student records.
  • Contribute to coordination of examinations and other scheduled academic activities.

Collaboration and Engagement

  • Work closely with Unit Coordinators in Perth and academic staff in Dubai.
  • Participate in academic meetings and teaching related discussions.
  • Liaise with professional and student support teams.
  • Support industry engagement activities such as guest lectures and industry visits.
  • Contribute to outreach, recruitment, and engagement activities for the School of Business.

Relationships

  • Work closely with the Head of School of Business and Humanities at Curtin Dubai.
  • Work and coordinate with Unit Coordinators at Curtin Perth.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders including regulators, industry, employers, schools, students, parents, alumni, and prospective students.

Location and Work Environment

  • This position is a full time on campus role.
  • Flexibility for remote work based on operational requirements.
  • The role includes offsite and cross campus university engagement opportunities.
