Role overview
Systems engineering role focused on Unix and Red Hat Linux administration, Veritas clustering, VMware infrastructure, automation, security, and BAU support.
The role supports large-scale data centre environments and requires coordination with network, database, application, and stakeholder teams.
Responsibilities
- Configure, install, and maintain Unix operating systems including AIX, Solaris, and HP-UX.
- Administer RHEL systems and Veritas Cluster Server environments.
- Apply patches and updates and remediate Linux vulnerabilities.
- Implement security controls and maintain compliance with policies, regulations, and best practices.
- Provide BAU support for incidents and requests, including root cause analysis and preventive measures.
- Investigate hardware failures, software bugs, and performance bottlenecks.
- Monitor and optimize hardware, kernel parameters, system resources, and overall system performance.
- Develop Bash scripts and implement monitoring tools for proactive system management.
- Create documentation for configurations, procedures, testing, migrations, and troubleshooting.
- Generate reports on performance, incidents, and maintenance activities.
- Coordinate with IT teams and attend change board meetings.
- Support VCS testing, upgrades, migrations, and legacy RHEL server rebuilds.
