Overview
The Sushi Chef is responsible for the efficient and effective operation of a specific section within the kitchen, ensuring the preparation and delivery of high-quality dishes that meet the standards of the respective outlet and Printemps Doha.
This role involves maintaining consistent quality, adhering to recipes, managing resources, and contributing to a positive and collaborative kitchen environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and craft sushi items according to standardized recipes and techniques, ensuring consistency, precision, and high-quality presentation.
- Work efficiently within the sushi station, taking full responsibility for the quality, freshness, and aesthetic of all sushi and Japanese dishes prepared.
- Set up the sushi bar and workstation with required ingredients, tools, and equipment ensuring an organized and efficient workflow.
- Monitor and maintain the freshness and quality of seafood, produce, and other ingredients, following proper rotation and storage practices.
- Ensure proper portion control, minimize waste, and adhere to sustainable use of ingredients.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Sushi Chef, Chef de Partie, or Commis Chef in a fine-dining Japanese restaurant or luxury hotel, specializing in sushi and Japanese cuisine.
- Strong knowledge of sushi preparation techniques, knife skills, fish handling, and traditional Japanese culinary methods.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure sushi bar or kitchen environment.
- Solid understanding of food safety, hygiene standards, and proper raw-fish handling procedures.
