Role Overview

  • The Survival Equipment and Avionics Controller is responsible for ensuring that all off aircraft maintenance work is performed to approve data and quality standards.
  • Reporting to the Deputy Depth Maintenance Manager for the organisation, administration, control and efficiency of the Part 145 Bay Operations.
  • The post holder will be an experienced and skilled technician undertaking a range of detailed maintenance activities on an aircraft or aircraft component.

Core Activity

  • High level of survival equipment and avionics knowledge is required
  • Initial set up of aircraft bays
  • Responsible for ensuring that all off aircraft maintenance work is performed to approved data and quality standards
  • Ensuring that all required regulatory and company standards of quality are achieved
  • Requires the ability to think and plan tactically
  • Provide Information, Statistics and Data as required for input to the Operational Performance Review
  • Supervising the team to ensure that maintenance is undertaken to schedule
  • Ensuring that staff are sufficiently competent and approved for the maintenance tasks
  • Responsible for meeting agreed delivery targets
  • Provide guidance and leadership to the team
  • Maintaining personal Log Book
  • Oversight of HMSS repairs and maintenance

Key Accountabilities

  • Performance indicators – Ensure effective management of Regulatory activities
  • Procedure/standards – Comply with the Regulatory Framework
  • Safety Management System – Understand and apply Human Factors and Error Management philosophies
  • Management System Assurance – Ensure Maintenance activities are compliant
  • Statutory/Regulatory & Legislative requirements – Demonstrate understanding of Continuing Airworthiness Regulatory Framework
  • Contractual Requirements – Comply with all applicable contractual requirements

Requirements

  • Completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship, ideally in Aeronautical Engineering or Military equivalent
  • Minimum of City & Guilds 2675 or 2661 in Aeronautical Engineering and Maintenance or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years working at Technician level prior to undertaking a Supervisor role
  • Practical experience and expertise in the application of aviation safety standards
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Expositions and Functionally Mandated Procedures
  • Management training and PDR training/experience
  • Strong customer awareness
  • Relevant Engineering degree or equivalent
  • Fully experienced and competent in hands on Customer Support
  • Strong people management and motivational skills
  • Operational and business management
  • Knowledge of managing and implementing effective safety management systems (SMS)
