Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out detailed pre-start and condition surveys of buildings and fire door assets across residential, social housing, and commercial sites in Cornwall, Devon, and Somerset.
  • Produce accurate, well-structured survey reports clearly recording existing condition, defects, quantities, and scope of works required.
  • Photograph and document findings thoroughly to the required standard, ensuring all reports are client-ready and support accurate pricing.
  • Liaise with clients, residents, and building managers professionally on site, coordinating access and communicating the survey process clearly.
  • Support the estimating and pre-construction teams by providing accurate take-off data, scope information, and site-specific intelligence.
  • Identify and flag additional scope, variations, or remedial opportunities arising from surveys, feeding back to the commercial team.
  • Manage your own diary and travel schedule to meet survey commitments across the South West region.
  • Maintain accurate records in the job management system, completing all entries on time and to the required standard.
  • Ensure all surveys are carried out safely and in line with Harmony’s H&S requirements.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • An A-player mindset — high standards, extreme ownership and the drive to do things properly, the first time.
  • Proven experience in a surveying role within construction, fire safety, building fabric, or a closely related discipline.
  • Strong attention to detail — accurate and thorough in recording, reporting, and documentation.
  • Comfortable working independently across multiple sites, managing your own schedule and travel.
  • Good understanding of building construction, fire doors, and passive fire protection (preferable).
  • Clear and professional communicator — comfortable engaging with clients, residents, and site representatives.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 and comfortable using mobile survey and job management tools.
  • Based within commutable distance of Cornwall, Devon, or Somerset.
  • Full UK driving licence.
