- Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures, ensuring all instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies are ready and functioning.
- Assist surgeons and RNs during orthopedic, neurosurgical, and pain management procedures by anticipating needs and maintaining the sterile field.
- Handles surgical instruments, sponges, and supplies as directed during procedures.
- Perform surgical counts with circulating staff according to hospital policy.
- Set up, operate, and troubleshoot specialized surgical equipment (e.g., drills, microscopes, navigation systems).
- Ensure proper care, handling, and cleaning of surgical instruments post-procedure.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of surgical techniques, instrumentation, and safety standards specific to ortho, neuro, and pain specialties.
- Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nurses, and fellow technicians to maintain smooth workflow and optimal patient care.
- Support continuous improvement by assisting with inventory, restocking, and quality assurance processes.
- Uphold all infection control and safety policies at all times.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program
- Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Minimum of one (1) year of surgical technologist experience preferred; ambulatory surgery center experience is a plus.
- Orthopedic, spine, pain management, or interventional procedure experience is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced surgical environment.
