Role Overview

The Payroll Supervisor – Canada leads and oversees Canadian payroll processing across multiple provinces.

The role ensures accurate, compliant, and timely payroll delivery under federal and provincial legislation.

The supervisor provides subject-matter expertise, supports audits, improves processes, and develops a payroll team.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise payroll processing, including data entry, timekeeping, calculations, data validation, and issue resolution.
  • Ensure compliance with Canadian payroll legislation, tax regulations, statutory requirements, and corporate policies.
  • Maintain payroll systems, databases, reports, documentation, audit trails, and employee self-service knowledge articles.
  • Manage employee-status, compensation, benefits-deduction, garnishment, and statutory-deduction changes.
  • Coordinate payroll calendars, deadlines, audits, compliance reviews, vendors, remittances, and government queries.
  • Lead, coach, and develop payroll specialists while driving service quality and process improvements.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business, accounting, or human resources.
  • At least 8 years of payroll-processing experience.
  • At least 3 years of supervisor, team lead, or managerial experience.
  • At least 3 years of Canadian payroll-processing experience.
  • The position operates in a professional office environment.
  • Work from the office five days per week, Monday through Friday, on a 4:00 PM–1:00 AM or 6:00 PM–3:00 AM IST shift.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll laws, tax legislation, and statutory requirements.
  • Experience with Dayforce, ADP, Ceridian, SAP, or Payworks.
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner or Certified Payroll Manager certification.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, leadership, communication, and accuracy skills.
