About the Role
Reporting to the Branch Manager, the Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all transport-related functions and activities at Darwin depot. This role ensures the effective coordination of daily movements, compliance with operational standards, and alignment with safety and legislative requirements. The position requires strong leadership, operational oversight, and collaboration across multiple teams including HR, HSEQ, Compliance, and Operations Support.
What You’ll Be Doing
Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience guiding supervisors and operational staff to meet performance expectations.
Ability to manage complex transport operations, including scheduling, loading/unloading, and depot coordination across multiple site.
Ability to lead daily operational briefings and stand-ups in line with Network Management Operating Systems (MOS).
In-depth understanding of fatigue management, Chain of Responsibility (CoR), and other transport-related legislative requirements.
Skilled in coordinating Pick-Up/Delivery operations and ensuring alignment with local. supervisor responsibilities.
Knowledge of scanning, manifesting, and asset tracking systems, including TMS.
Familiarity with governance processes related to staff remuneration, injury management, and leave.
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate across HR, HSEQ, Compliance, and Operations Support.
Commitment to safety standards and operational risk management across depot environments.
Flexibility to work weekends and participate in after-hours contact rosters, ensuring continuity of leadership and operational oversight.
What You’ll Bring
Proven ability to lead dynamic, complex teams to meet operational KPIs in a safe efficient manner.
Experience managing transport and logistics operations across depot environments.
Practical knowledge with scheduling, pick up/delivery coordination, and movement planning.
Understanding of fatigue management and Chain of Responsibility (CoR) compliance.
Experience using systems for asset tracking and operational reporting.
Exposure to governance processes including leave, injury management, and remuneration.
Ability to work with HR, HSEQ and compliance teams.
Licences: Full C Class driver's licence (essential) / Forklift and/or MR/HR/HC/MC licence (desirable).
