Structural Fitter

The Fitter will be responsible for fitting piping and/or structural components according to supplied drawings or field-verified dimensions, while adhering to ACI or customer welding procedure requirements.

This role requires efficient, productive work and effective collaboration with helpers and welders to achieve project objectives.

• Fit piping and/or structural components as per supplied drawings or verified field dimensions, while adhering to required welding procedures and customer specifications.
• Provide clear direction and oversight to assigned helpers and welders to ensure smooth workflow and project completion.
• Ensure punctual attendance and maintain a professional working relationship with co-workers and supervisors.
• Take full accountability for the quality and productivity of your work.

• Perform material take-offs on drawings to determine cut lengths.
• Utilize pipe/beam cutting machines, or if unavailable, use beveling machines to cut pipe to the required length. Collaborate with the Shop Foreman to assign personnel or issue cut lists when necessary.
• Communicate effectively with helpers to ensure appropriate materials and equipment are prepared for each project task.
• Secure parts using bolts, clamps, and tack-welds to hold them in position for welding.
• Verify all materials (e.g., pipes, structural components, fittings) to ensure they match the drawing specifications, including size, rating, grade, project number, and phase. Notify the Shop Foreman of any discrepancies.
