Build your future with AE2S as a Structural Engineer Intern for Summer 2027. This paid engineering internship provides hands-on experience working alongside licensed structural engineers and project managers on real-world projects including water treatment plants, educational facilities, university buildings, environmental structures, and infrastructure projects. You'll gain practical experience in structural analysis, structural design, construction observation, and project coordination while developing the technical and professional skills needed for a successful engineering career.
Responsibilities
- Assist with structural analysis, engineering calculations, and design development under the guidance of licensed engineers
- Support the preparation and review of structural drawings, specifications, technical reports, and construction documents
- Participate in construction observation, site visits, and field reporting to verify work conforms to project requirements
- Review construction submittals, shop drawings, and material requests for compliance with project plans and specifications
- Assist with project documentation, data management, filing, scanning, and other administrative support activities
- Utilize engineering software and design tools to support project planning, analysis, and documentation
Basic Requirements
- Completion of at least three semesters towards a bachelor degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering or related field
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to travel as required

Physical Qualifications
- Ability to walk up to 3-miles on uneven terrain
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions
- Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time
- Occasionally climb, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist
- Occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull light to moderate amounts of weight
- May require lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds, with rare lifting of up to 50 pounds
- Ability to inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
- May be required to wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) including but not limited to, flame resistant clothing, hard hat, and protective footwear
- May require occasional evenings and weekends with overtime expectations varying with workload
- May be required to travel to off-site locations including occasional overnight stays out of town
