Strategy & Project Management Director – Digital Assets

Position Summary

Strategic Planning and Project Management

• Support the Digital Finance Group strategic roadmap, annual planning, and strategic reviews.
• Conduct market, competitor, and industry analysis to identify opportunities and risks.
• Develop business cases, presentations, and management recommendations for senior leadership.
• Lead cross-market initiatives from planning through implementation.
• Establish project plans, governance frameworks, milestones, and success metrics.
• Monitor progress, dependencies, resource needs, escalation items, and execution risks.
• Prepare status reports and executive updates.

Operating Company Coordination

• Act as a liaison between VEON Group and local fintech teams.
• Facilitate collaboration and knowledge transfer across markets.
• Identify successful initiatives that can be adapted across operating companies.
• Support alignment of local projects with Group strategic priorities.

Fintech Enablement

• Support initiatives across payments, wallets, lending, merchant services, cards, remittances, and adjacent financial services.
• Evaluate new business opportunities, partnerships, and ecosystem developments.
• Coordinate workstreams involving product, technology, finance, compliance, legal, and commercial teams.

Governance and Stakeholder Management

• Prepare executive materials for leadership reviews and Board-level discussions.
• Develop and maintain KPIs and performance tracking frameworks.
• Support governance forums and steering committees.
• Build relationships with senior leaders, external partners, and strategic stakeholders.
• Drive alignment among teams operating in different markets and regulatory environments.

Critical Skills and Experience

• 10+ years of experience in fintech, digital financial services, consulting, strategy, PMO, or business transformation roles.
• Strong understanding of digital payments, wallets, fintech ecosystems, and financial services.
• Experience managing complex cross-functional projects and strategic programs.
• Ability to establish governance frameworks, milestones, and success metrics for multi-market initiatives.
• Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills.

Education and Preferred Experience

• Bachelor's degree in business, finance, engineering, economics, or a related field.
• Experience in telecom-led fintech businesses, mobile money, digital wallets, or payment companies is preferred.
• Exposure to digital assets, blockchain, or emerging fintech technologies is preferred.
• Experience across emerging markets and multiple regulatory environments is preferred.
• MBA or a relevant postgraduate qualification is preferred.
