Role Overview
Deliveroo is seeking a Staff Software Engineer - Full Stack for its London engineering team.
The role defines technical solutions and leads technical direction for complex, high-scale systems supporting a global three-sided marketplace.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Act as a subject matter expert by providing high-level reviews and technical advice across multiple teams.
- Define and design technical solutions for complex business problems in a high-traffic environment handling 20k RPM or more.
- Influence the long-term technical roadmap and manage project timelines, risks, and sustainable delivery pace.
- Mentor and coach engineers across all levels and partner with emerging leaders.
- Lead engineering interviews and contribute to recruiting strategy.
- Align non-adjacent teams to deliver results for the wider organization.
What You’ll Need to Thrive
- Significant experience building web-based applications in a modern stack.
- Deliveroo uses Go, Ruby, Python, and Scala, and seeks someone interested in working across them.
- Proven ability to design and operate web architecture at scale for significant request volumes.
- Demonstrated ownership of relational databases including PostgreSQL and MySQL.
- Experience with NoSQL backends such as Redis, DynamoDB, or Elasticsearch.
