Role Overview

Zscaler is hiring a Staff Software Development Engineer for the Identity and Access Management department.

The role is hybrid, based in Bangalore, and reports to the Senior Manager of Engineering.

The position focuses on managing digital risk through identity integration and controls.

Role Expectations

  • Lead development of identity management products.
  • Design and implement scalable, high-performance Java backend services and APIs.
  • Build workflows and application integrations with IAM, Product Management, and business teams.
  • Write unit, integration, and performance tests, and monitor, debug, and optimize system performance.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally on integrated solutions and participate in Agile and Scrum processes.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to support a highly available engineering platform and federal guideline compliance.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Deep proficiency in enterprise Java, object-oriented programming, systems architecture, RESTful APIs, and Hibernate or Spring.
  • Good understanding of CI/CD tools and processes.
  • Hands-on experience with SQL and Postgres.
  • Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and one or more major cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of DevOps automation workflows and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with AI-driven anomaly detection, identity analytics, or automated policy generation in enterprise access management platforms.
  • Knowledge of IAM protocols such as OAuth, OpenID Connect, SAML, Federation, or SSO.
