Job Overview
- Provides direct and indirect age specific care for assigned patients in the Operating Room per scheduled shifts.
- Responsible for professional performance and safe patient care.
- Abides by Joint Commission International (JCI) requirements.
General Responsibilities
- Performs patient assessment using appropriate, problem focused, and age specific techniques.
- Performs continual critical care assessment of patient and family's physical and psychological needs.
- Involves patient, significant others, and health care providers in plan of care.
- Collaborates with multi disciplinary team to provide patient care.
- Coordinates and plans critical care/clinical pathway and prioritizes care.
- Documents all relevant data in medical record according to standards.
- Ensures availability and maintenance of supplies and equipment.
- Participates in staff meetings and unit committees/projects.
- Maintains a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Performs safe handling and administration of narcotic/controlled drugs.
Unit Specific Responsibilities
- Operates Arthroscopy Tower System.
- Prepares Chest Tubes: monitoring, caring, setting up drainage system.
- Ensures Electro Surgery Safety.
- Performs Electrosurgical Procedures in the Operating Room.
- Conducts Instrument, Sponge, and Sharp Count.
- Maintains a Sterile Field.
- Provides Care for Malignant Hyperthermia Patients.
- Ensures Safety in Minimal Invasive Surgery.
- Applies Pneumatic Tourniquet.
- Follows Positioning General Guidelines.
- Prevents Retained Instruments, Sharps, and Sponges.
- Manages Specimens.
