- Perform nursing interventions per established standards
Requirements
- Provide direct and indirect age specific care for patients in Labour and Delivery Unit
- Perform nursing assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation, and care coordination
- Abide by JCI requirements and patient safety goals
- Perform safe handling and administration of narcotic/controlled drugs
- Participate in continuous quality improvement activities

General Responsibilities
- Provides age specific patient centered care utilizing the nursing process
- Performs patient assessment using appropriate techniques
- Performs continual critical care assessment of patient and family needs
- Involves patient and family in plan of care
- Collaborates with multi disciplinary team
- Coordinates and plans critical care/clinical pathway
- Recognizes subtle cues to anticipate potential problems
- Documents all relevant data in medical record
- Ensures availability and maintenance of supplies and equipment
- Performs clerical duties when needed
- Assumes responsibility for mandatory education
- Participates in staff meetings and unit committees
Unit Specific
- Performs nursing interventions per established standards
- Assessing amniotic fluid using AmniSure
- Caring for patient with amniotic fluid embolism
- Assisting with amniotomy
- Examining the placenta
- Assisting with forceps delivery
