Role Overview
Perform structural engineering design, specifications, and technical services for structures and foundations made from concrete, steel, wood, or engineered products.
Work may cover structures, platforms, bridges, pipe racks, buildings, and related facilities.
Responsibilities
- Perform conventional structural engineering work under general supervision and develop new approaches to problems.
- Plan, schedule, and conduct work requiring independent evaluation and selection of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
- Address conflicting design requirements, unsuitable conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements.
- Provide technical guidance to designers and less experienced engineers.
- May lead a functional area on a small project or a segment of a larger project.
- When acting as lead, plan, budget, organize, coordinate, and control the project and conduct performance appraisals and coaching.
Qualifications
- An undergraduate degree in Engineering.
- At least 4 years of related experience, with typical experience ranging from 6 to 10 years.
- Sufficient professional experience to perform as a fully trained professional engineer.
- Broad knowledge of engineering precedents.
- Licensed or Chartered Professional Engineer certification is preferred.
