Role Overview
Venmo's Business Continuity team protects critical systems through disaster recovery automation, chaos engineering, game days, and backup and restore systems.
The Senior Engineer is a hands-on contributor responsible for resilient cloud infrastructure and complete SDLC solutions.
The role operates at the intersection of cloud engineering, SRE, and reliability.
Responsibilities
- Deliver solutions across design, implementation, testing, delivery, and operations.
- Drive cloud scalability, reliability, business continuity, and recoverability initiatives.
- Troubleshoot incidents, identify root causes, document fixes, and implement preventive measures.
- Lead projects end to end, including design, stakeholder identification, risk management, coordination, and delivery.
- Develop infrastructure and application configuration as code.
- Design and operate chaos experiments and incident game days.
- Build disaster recovery automation, runbooks, backup tooling, and restore processes.
- Track resilience metrics, SLOs, and recovery time objectives.
- Mentor engineers and improve production operations.
