Sr. Estimation Engineer - Electrical

Job Purpose

Estimation and Tendering

• Prepare cost estimates for LV/MV power distribution, lighting, cabling, protection, standby power, and ELV systems.
• Review tender documents, drawings, specifications, and bills of quantities.
• Perform quantity take-offs from 2D drawings and BIM/Revit models where applicable.
• Prepare technically sound and commercially viable bid proposals within deadlines.

Commercial and Technical Analysis

• Obtain and evaluate quotations from vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Check compliance with project requirements, IEC, NEC, BS, NFPA, and local authority regulations.
• Perform load calculations, cable sizing checks, cost analysis, and value engineering.
• Prepare comparative cost statements, cash flow projections, estimation summaries, risk assessments, and margin analyses.

Coordination and Follow-up

• Coordinate with design, procurement, planning, and project execution teams.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, and vendors during pre-bid and clarification stages.
• Support post-tender negotiations and clarification meetings.
• Maintain historical cost, vendor rate, and market pricing databases.
• Mentor and guide junior estimation engineers as needed.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is mandatory.
• Six to ten years of relevant electrical estimation experience is required.
• Prior experience with MEP contracting firms is mandatory.
• A master's degree or PMP/estimation-related certification is a plus.

Technical Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of electrical distribution, lighting, protection, standby power, and ELV systems.
• Proficiency in estimation software.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit/BIM for quantity take-offs.
• Advanced MS Excel skills.
• Familiarity with international codes, standards, and local authority requirements.
• Understanding of contract types and tendering processes.
