Sr.Engineer - Primary Design

Role Overview

Primary Responsibilities

• Draft proposals and develop scopes, conceptual designs, execution plans, engineering estimates, and schedules.
• Create detailed drawings for 11kV to 400kV EHV AIS and GIS projects, with emphasis on 132kV and above.
• Develop land utilisation, elevation, conduit, grounding, lighting, lightning protection, bill of materials, CDM, and MEWP layouts.
• Prepare busbar sizing, sag tension, and short-circuit force calculations.
• Coordinate design activities across civil and structural, networks, and transmission line departments.
• Conduct design reviews, attend meetings, collaborate with clients, and coordinate with the WSP UK office.
• Monitor project schedules and ensure submissions meet high-quality standards.
• Produce substation design packages compliant with client standards and IEC, IEEE, or NGTS requirements.
• Undertake FEED consultancy work, including technical reports and presentations.
• Maintain compliance with CDM regulations and other legal and regulatory requirements.
• Mentor less experienced team members and perform periodic quality checks.
• Improve design processes, tools, workflows, and technology adoption while promoting Safety by Design.
