WSP is seeking an Early Career Electrical Engineer to support our Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSMO) team in Lisle, Illinois.
In this role, you will support roadway electrical, tolling, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), and communications infrastructure projects for the Illinois Tollway while gaining experience in planning, inspections, operations, design support, and project delivery.
Support roadway electrical, tolling, ITS, fiber communications, and transportation technology initiatives for the Illinois Tollway.
Participate in field inspections, condition assessments, and asset inventory activities throughout the Tollway system.
Maintain accurate inventories, asset condition data, and inspection records for transportation technology assets.
Prepare technical reports, condition assessments, inspection documentation, repair cost estimates, technical memoranda, and engineering recommendations.
Support planning, operations, and maintenance activities related to transportation technology infrastructure.
Participate in construction walkthroughs, system acceptance activities, and handover reviews for maintenance and capital improvement projects.
Analyze asset, maintenance, and operational data to identify trends, evaluate system performance, support lifecycle management activities, and inform engineering decisions.
Review plans, specifications, shop drawings, and construction submittals under the guidance of senior engineers.
Assist with evaluating existing transportation technology assets and identifying opportunities for system improvements and technology enhancements.
Coordinate with Tollway staff, consultants, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
0-3 years of relevant experience.
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain EIT preferred.

Interest in transportation technology, infrastructure operations, and emerging mobility solutions.
