Role Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Develop enterprise software solutions using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build RESTful APIs and microservices for infrastructure workflows.
• Automate compute, storage, networking, virtualization, and hyperconverged infrastructure services.
• Develop infrastructure-as-code and API-driven automation frameworks.
• Create reusable components and services for cloud platform operations.
• Integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines and develop containerized services.
• Build observability and monitoring tooling to improve platform reliability.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, virtualization, cloud, and platform teams.
• Participate in code reviews and technical design discussions.
• Use AI-assisted development tools while maintaining engineering quality and governance.

Primary and Supporting Skills

• Mandatory skills include Ansible, automation, Bash or Shell scripting, Java, and Kubernetes.
• Primary skills include Java, Spring Boot, REST API development, and software design engineering.
• Secondary skills include CI/CD pipeline engineering, infrastructure as code, and platform automation.
• Additional skills include containers, Kubernetes, cloud and virtualization platforms, and Linux platform engineering.
• Good-to-have skills include CI/CD architecture, Java microservices, Java Spring Boot, Red Hat Linux administration, and Terraform.

Required Qualifications

• At least 5 years of professional software development experience with a backend or platform engineering emphasis.
• Expert-level Java proficiency and modern software engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience with RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Experience automating infrastructure, private cloud, virtualization, storage, networking, or platform engineering environments.
• Understanding of infrastructure-as-code and API-driven automation principles.
• Experience with CI/CD integration, Linux, scripting, containers, Git workflows, code reviews, testing, and software quality practices.
• Ability to use AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot while maintaining quality and governance.

Desired Qualifications

• Seven or more years of experience building platforms for private cloud, virtualization, or infrastructure services is desired.
• Java Professional Certification or equivalent software engineering credentials is desired.
• Experience with VMware, Nutanix, OpenStack, Kubernetes cloud platforms, or hyperconverged infrastructure is desired.
• Knowledge of event-driven architectures, messaging platforms, and workflow orchestration frameworks is desired.

Compensation

• Compensation range is $83,912 to $128,080 per year.
• Actual compensation depends on skills, experience, performance, internal equity, work location, and job level.
• Additional compensation may include annual performance bonuses, sales incentives, or other variable compensation.
