Role Overview
Provide specialist diagnostic radiology services across general and advanced imaging modalities.
Support clinical supervision, radiation safety, equipment quality, and departmental standards.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Interpret general radiological examinations and authorized fluoroscopy, angiography, ultrasound, radioisotope, CT, and MRI studies.
- Undertake diagnostic imaging procedures within training, experience, and clinical privileges.
- Provide written reports containing main and differential diagnoses.
- Recommend additional studies when required.
- Provide on-call emergency coverage.
Technologist and Service Supervision
- Issue instructions to technologists on imaging methods, specialized views, and patient positioning.
- Supervise technologists' clinical output in CT and MRI services.
- Create staff training and qualification plans based on performance and current standards.
- Keep staff informed about developments in imaging techniques and technology.
Safety and Quality
- Review imaging requests to reduce unnecessary patient radiation exposure.
- Ensure ionizing-radiation practices comply with local rules with the radiation safety officer.
- Oversee intravenous contrast media administration within the service.
- Participate in quality assurance activities and develop internal service standards.
Equipment and Governance
- Evaluate imaging equipment reliability and quality assurance and propose restructuring or development.
- Participate in committees selecting new equipment.
- Perform other related duties requested by the Head of Department.
Professional Requirements
- Comply with professional rules, regulations, procedures, grade, specialty, and clinical privilege requirements.
- Perform procedures only within documented training, experience, and authorized scope.
- Obtain Chief of Radiology approval where required for specialized procedures.
