Specific Responsibilities
- Perform blood draws using venipuncture, capillary, or fingerstick methods.
- Verify patient information and label samples correctly.
- Prepare and maintain sterile, organized, and functioning equipment.
- Provide a calm, safe, and comfortable environment for patients.
- Maintain cleanliness and follow hygiene protocols for work areas and equipment.
- Document patient information, procedures, and specimens collected.
- Transport specimens safely to the appropriate laboratories.
- Follow safety guidelines for handling and disposing of biohazard materials.
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions and report concerns to supervisors.
- Communicate with physicians, nurses, and laboratory technicians.
- Protect patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA requirements.
- Meet applicable ISO 15189:2022, EIAC, JCI, and regulatory standards.
General Responsibilities
- Work assigned shifts scheduled by the Laboratory Director.
- Follow organizational policies related to infection control, patient safety, OSHAD, DOH, JCI, and ISO.
- Support continuous quality improvement and participate in quality assurance activities.
- Participate in scheduled in-service training programs.
- Use effective interpersonal and listening skills with staff, associates, and management.
- Maintain confidentiality under the applicable agreement.
- Understand and respect hospital policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties requested by the Laboratory Director.
