Role Overview

BISR is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled specialist piano teacher for whole-school teaching.

The successful candidate will deliver outstanding learning experiences and teach piano up to Grade 8 ABRSM.

The role contributes to the school's learning, enrichment, and well-being priorities.

Candidate Profile

  • Candidates should be innovative, creative, enthusiastic, highly motivated, learning-focused, reflective, and collaborative.
  • Candidates should have a strong track record of classroom practice and pastoral care.
  • A UK or UK-recognized teaching qualification is required.
  • Qualified Teacher status, a PGCE or B.Ed., and relevant training or qualifications for the post are required.
  • Experience with diverse learning needs, curriculum development, monitoring, and assessment is required.
  • Experience with second-language students or willingness to train is welcomed.

Teaching and Pastoral Responsibilities

  • Use high-quality assessment and feedback to ensure students make good progress.
  • Create a positive climate for learning and support students' holistic development and well-being.
  • Contribute to the wider school life through co-curricular programs and community events.
  • Serve as a form tutor and support students' social, emotional, and academic well-being.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and communicate effectively with pupils, parents, and staff.

Skills and Understanding

  • Detailed knowledge of the English National Curriculum and Assessment for Learning strategies is expected.
  • The role requires organizational, communication, time-management, ICT, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of British education in an international context and intercultural awareness is expected.
