Responsibilities
- Provide inpatient and outpatient neurological care
- Perform neurological examinations of head, neck, muscle strength, balance, reflexes, and cognitive abilities
- Manage demyelinating diseases, epilepsies, headache, movement disorders, polyneuropathies, spinal cord disorders, cognitive dysfunction, and genetic neurologic diseases
- Perform and read diagnostic tests including EEG, EMG/NCV, VEP, BAEP
- Prescribe and administer medications, monitor side effects
- Counsel patients on neurological disorders and risk factors
- Refer patients to other healthcare practitioners as necessary
- Advise other physicians on neurological problems
- Maintain patient records including histories, examination findings, treatment plans
- Order supportive care services such as physical therapy and social services
Requirements
- Medical degree and specialization in Neurology
- Ability to perform and interpret EEG, EMG/NCV, VEP, BAEP
- Competence in managing core neurological diseases

Overview
- Specialist Neurologist will diagnose and treat disorders affecting the brain, spinal cord, nerves, muscles, and related diseases.
- Examine patient's mental and physical status, conduct medical tests and scans, and evaluate results to properly diagnose and treat.
Key Responsibilities
- Primarily responsible for providing inpatient and outpatient neurological care by examining, diagnosing, and treating nervous system disorders.
- Performs neurological examinations of nerves of head & neck; muscle strength and movement; balance, ambulation, and reflexes; sensation, memory, speech, language, and other cognitive abilities.
- Competent to manage core neurological diseases: demyelinating diseases, epilepsies, headache and migraine, movement disorders, polyneuropathies, spinal cord disorders, cognitive dysfunction, genetic diseases with neurologic manifestation.
- Must be able to perform & read diagnostic tests: EEG, EMG/NCV, VEP, BAEP.
- Identify presence of pathological blood conditions and prescribes and administers relevant medications and drugs.
- Counsel patients or others on background of neurological disorders including risk factors, or genetic or environmental concerns.
- Refer patients to other health care practitioners as necessary.
- Advise other physicians on treatment of neurological problems.
- Prescribe or administer medications, such as anti epileptic drugs, and monitor patients for behavioral and cognitive side effects.
- Prepare, maintain, or review records including patients' histories, neurological examination findings, treatment plans, or outcomes.
- Order supportive care services such as physical therapy, specialized nursing care, and social services.
