Specialist - Data Engineering

Role Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Review requirements, source-to-target mappings, and technical designs to identify validation needs and quality risks.
• Define test scenarios, edge cases, validation rules, and test coverage.
• Write SQL-based validations, reconcile source and target data, and validate transformation logic.
• Support functional and regression testing and resolve defects through root-cause analysis.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts and reusable test assets.
• Use AI-assisted tools responsibly to improve automation and test design efficiency.
• Coordinate testing and releases, track defects, and validate fixes.
• Maintain test documentation, validation evidence, QA assets, and engineering artifacts.

Required Experience

• At least 3 years of experience in data engineering testing, ETL validation, QA automation, or data warehouse environments.
• Experience with large-scale data testing or data engineering quality assurance initiatives.
• Hands-on ownership of automation development in an Agile delivery model.
• Experience with data warehouse and ETL testing, validation, or quality engineering.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform and modern cloud-based data engineering practices.
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, and basic Unix or shell scripting.
• Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools for automation scripts and testing accelerators.
• Experience with Agile delivery tools such as Jira or Rally and software development lifecycle practices.

Preferred Skills

• Working knowledge of CI/CD and DevOps tools such as Bamboo, Bitbucket, GitHub, or GitHub Actions.
• IICS or PowerCenter experience is preferred for automation, reconciliation, and validation work.
