Upon appointment, Special Constables are designated as Peace Officers, as defined under Section 2 of the Criminal Code of Canada, and are granted the legal authority to enforce federal, provincial, and municipal laws within the scope of their duties.
You are responsible for ensuring the safety and security of passengers, employees, Transit Services property, vehicles, and the general public.
Work is performed in accordance with relevant federal, provincial and municipal legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines including but not limited to: Criminal Code of Canada, Community Safety and Policing Act, 2024 Provincial Offences Act, Trespass to Property Act, and applicable municipal bylaws.

Completion of a 2-year community college Police Foundations or Law and Security Certificate.

Court processes and procedures
Investigative and evidence gathering techniques
Crowd control and emergency response techniques
Dispute resolution techniques
Personal and physical security methods as well as security equipment
Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers.
