Job purpose
Perform ultrasound examinations and assist radiology with special and interventional ultrasound procedures.
Key responsibilities and duties
- Perform abdominal, pelvic, obstetric, and breast ultrasound examinations.
- Submit images to the radiologist for discussion and reporting.
- Consult the radiologist during difficult examinations.
- Correctly identify patients and examination sites.
- Explain procedures and instruct patients on positioning.
- Select transducers and adjust equipment controls for the organ examined.
- Enter patient information into ultrasound equipment and maintain image records.
- Record images on the machine and transfer them to PACS.
- Maintain patient details in the department logbook.
- Keep ultrasound rooms neat and orderly.
- Assist the radiologist with biopsies, drainage, and other special procedures.
- Maintain knowledge of sterile techniques and nursing procedures required in ultrasound.
Requirements
- Communicate clearly with patients, families, physicians, and non-medical staff.
- Have at least two years of continuous ultrasonography practice after obtaining a diploma.
- Hold an appropriate radiographic or technologist diploma or bachelor's degree with special ultrasound training.
- Have excellent spoken and written English; Arabic is preferable.
