Role overview
Own systems that manage customer accounts and issue resolution after Affirm Card transactions settle.
Collaborate with card issuing, transaction processing, money movement, product, compliance, and other partner teams.
Solve complex backend engineering problems that affect customer resolutions and communications at scale.
What you'll do
- Break down larger projects into tasks, deliver work in phases, and collaborate for timely delivery.
- Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics on ideation, technical constraints, risks, and trade-offs.
- Create and monitor metrics, escalate issues, and support team operations, availability, and on-call efforts.
- Participate in team growth and development activities, including interviewing.
What we look for
- Have at least 1.5 years of software engineering experience.
- Have designed, developed, and launched backend systems and be proficient in Python or Kotlin.
- Be familiar with distributed systems, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
- Write clear, well-tested, extensible code across multiple software components.
- Be comfortable navigating large codebases, debugging code, and conducting code reviews.
