Role overview
Build and operate systems supporting customer accounts and issue resolution after Affirm Card transactions settle.
Work on customer-facing outcomes involving accurate resolutions and timely communications at scale.
Collaborate with teams responsible for card issuing, transaction processing, money movement, product, and compliance.
What you'll do
- Break larger projects into tasks, deliver them in phases, and collaborate for timely delivery.
- Participate in product development with product management, design, and analytics.
- Articulate technical constraints and help make decisions that account for risks and trade-offs.
- Create and monitor metrics, escalate issues, and support operational and on-call efforts.
- Contribute to team growth and development activities, including participating in interviews.
What we look for
- At least 1.5 years of experience as a software engineer.
- Experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems.
- Proficiency in Python or Kotlin.
- Familiarity with distributed systems, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
- Ability to design solutions spanning multiple software components and write clear, well-tested, extensible code.
- Comfort navigating large codebases, debugging code, and conducting code reviews.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Equivalent practical experience or a bachelor's degree in a related field.
Base pay
- USA Pacific base pay range for California, Washington, New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut is $165,000 to $225,000 USD.
- USA Sapphire base pay range for other U.S. states is $146,000 to $206,000 USD.
- Base pay may be supplemented by equity, stipends, and benefits.
Workplace

- Most roles can be performed remotely within the country of employment, although some roles may require work from an assigned office.
