Duties
- Animal Care and Husbandry:
- Provide expert care and husbandry for animals, ensuring their well-being and health.
- Maintain clean and safe enclosures, including tanks and terrariums.
- Maintain accurate records for all animals under your care.
- Customer Service:
- Offer exceptional customer service by providing information and guidance to the client on reptile and fish care, habitat setup, handling of animals, and product selection.
- Enclosure Setup and Maintenance:
- Monitor life support systems maintaining reptile and fish habitats, including providing guidance on filtration systems, decorative elements, plantings, lighting, and heating.
- Regularly clean animal enclosures, tanks, and display areas.
- Replace substrate, water, and decor as necessary.
- Ensure that the animal areas and environments are clean, organized, and free of hazards.
- Monitor and perform routine maintenance on equipment for reptile and fish habitats, including filtration systems, lighting, and heating.
- Knowledge of small animals, reptile and fish species, their care requirements, and common health issues.
- Working environment:
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
- A passion for animals and their welfare.
- The ability to grow through supplied advanced training and education.
Experience, Skills & Requirements
- Previous experience working with small animals, preferably with a focus on reptiles and fish.
- Strong knowledge of small animal, reptile and fish care, including habitat requirements and nutritional needs.
- Exceptional attention to detail and communication skills.
- Enthusiasm for sharing knowledge and passion with others.
- Ability to lift and carry items, including bags of pet food and aquarium equipment.
- Dedication to the welfare and well-being of animals in your care.
