Key Responsibilities

  • Advise on vessel sale and purchase transactions involving tankers, bulk carriers, barges, tugs, and multipurpose support vessels across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Draft and negotiate charter parties and contracts of carriage.
  • Handle shipbuilding and repair contracts for new builds, conversions, repairs, oil rigs, super yachts, heavy-lift cranes, and tugs.
  • Lead on port concessions, operations, government contracts, regulatory matters, and port operating agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with maritime regulations, international conventions, treaties, and environmental protection laws.
  • Manage ship registration and flag-state law compliance for fleets.
  • Provide legal oversight on salvage and wreck removal, including search and recovery operations.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of post-qualification experience in shipping and maritime law.
  • Admission in a recognised international jurisdiction.
  • Demonstrable experience in vessel transactions, shipbuilding contracts, and international maritime regulations.
  • Strong background in high-value, cross-border commercial agreements.
