Description
Senior Technical Writer role in the IT department at TAWANTECH.
The position owns software handover and requirements documentation across delivery, development, and application support teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather detailed functional and non-functional requirements from Delivery, Development, and Application Support teams.
- Author and maintain SRS documents for systems handed over after go-live.
- Develop standardized handover documentation templates and checklists.
- Ensure handover deliverables include architecture overviews, configurations, support scenarios, workflows, and known issues.
- Translate technical specifications, user stories, and configurations into structured documentation.
- Interview subject matter experts and stakeholders to gather undocumented support knowledge.
- Align existing documentation with QMS and ITSM standards.
- Ensure documentation meets audit, compliance, and traceability requirements.
- Update documentation during periodic reviews, system changes, and new releases.
- Collaborate across departments to enforce standards and drive process improvement.
- Mentor project teams on documentation expectations and SRS structure.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Technical Communication, or a related field.
- Exceptional writing and organizational skills.
- Strong understanding of software delivery lifecycle and production support environments.
- 5+ years of Technical Writer experience in IT, software, or enterprise environments.
- Proven experience developing SRS or technical handover documents.
- Background working in Agile, DevOps, or Waterfall delivery models.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Confluence, JIRA, or documentation management systems.
- Familiarity with SRS, BRD, and technical design documentation standards.
- Experience with Visio, Lucidchart, or Draw.io.
- Understanding of APIs, software architecture, and infrastructure basics.
Leadership and Competencies
- Ability to own the handover documentation lifecycle and drive process improvement.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Analytical mindset connecting business needs to technical solutions.
- Proactive, self-driven, detail-oriented, and committed to quality.
Preferred Certifications
- Certified Technical Writer certification, such as CPTC by STC, is preferred.
- ITIL Foundation is preferred for understanding support environments.
- ISO 9001 awareness or CMMI knowledge is a plus.
