About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and evolve a modern, event-driven microservices platform supporting North Carolina's toll and vehicle registration systems. In this role, you will work on distributed systems that manage account management, payment processing, and vehicle transactions at scale.
Technology Stack
Backend: Java 21, Spring Boot 3.5.9, Spring Cloud, Spring Kafka
Databases: PostgreSQL, Redis (Lettuce), Flyway migrations
Cloud & Infrastructure: Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, Spring Cloud Azure
Messaging: Apache Kafka, event choreography patterns
Tools & Quality: Maven, MapStruct, Lombok, JUnit 5, Mockito, TestContainers, JaCoCo, OpenAPI/SpringDoc, GitHub
Authentication: OAuth2/OIDC, Azure Active Directory
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement microservices within a saga-choreography architecture
- Develop event-driven workflows and manage Kafka topics across domain services
- Implement distributed data persistence and caching strategies
- Write production-grade code with comprehensive test coverage
- Collaborate on architectural decisions and API design, including OpenAPI specifications
