Design and implement high-quality server-side code in line with coding standards

Optimise application performance, quality, and responsiveness

Build and evolve services using Java (Quarkus), JPA/Hibernate, and SQL

Ensure production-grade observability through structured logging, metrics, and tracing, alongside robust error handling

Participate in architecture and design reviews, and share guidance and feedback through code reviews

Ship continuously in an agile environment with automated testing and CI/CD

Troubleshoot production issues, deliver timely fixes, and conduct thorough root-cause analysis

Research, evaluate, and prototype new technologies where they add clear value

Contribute to the team's coding standards and best practices

Support and mentor junior team members

Contribute to technical decision-making and strategy across the team and organisation

Identify and address security vulnerabilities in the system

Collaborate with business analysts to clarify requirements and with testers to debug issues and review test case coverage

Write and maintain clear, useful technical documentation

5+ years of experience developing applications with Java and a Java framework (preferably Quarkus, although experience with other frameworks is also welcome)

Strong experience with SQL, JPA, and Hibernate

Strong experience building RESTful APIs

Experience with TypeScript and/or JavaScript is advantageous

An understanding of frontend development and experience working with frontend frameworks such as Angular, React, or Vue is beneficial

Effective communication in English and a collaborative approach to working across functions
