Role Overview
The Compute Site Reliability team designs, develops, and manages applications and infrastructure supporting Akamai Compute products and services.
The role creates tooling and software to monitor and improve system reliability.
The position collaborates across operations, application development, support, and engineering teams.
Responsibilities
- Solve complex problems through proactive troubleshooting, automation, and systems programming.
- Deploy and maintain the observability platform and internal tooling.
- Partner across teams to improve product and service reliability, scalability, and usability.
- Provide guidance to engineers and developers to increase confidence in service performance.
- Investigate and troubleshoot complex problems with support, operations, and engineering teams.
- Help release new applications and modernize existing tooling.
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering is required.
- Six years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering or a related engineering role is required.
- Linux system administration expertise is required.
- Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, routing and switching, and storage concepts is required.
- Hands-on experience operating and troubleshooting production containerized environments and Kubernetes is required.
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of CI/CD and DevOps practices is required.
- Hands-on experience with Jenkins, Git, Prometheus, and Grafana is required.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code and configuration management using Terraform, Ansible, SaltStack, or similar tools is required.
- Exposure to cloud storage systems is required.
- Automation and scripting skills using Python, Bash, Go, Rust, or similar languages are required.
