The role leads the design, architecture, and implementation of scalable data platforms using Databricks and modern data engineering technologies.
The architect works with customers to understand business objectives, translate requirements into technical solutions, and deliver high-performance cloud-based data platforms.
The position provides architectural guidance, technical leadership, mentoring, and best-practice oversight.
Experience
- At least 10 years of overall Information Technology experience is required.
- At least 6 years of hands-on experience designing and implementing Databricks solutions is required.
- Experience architecting enterprise-scale data platforms and analytics solutions is required.
Key responsibilities
- Gather requirements and design scalable data platform architectures with customers, stakeholders, and technical teams.
- Design and implement Databricks Data Lakehouse solutions and Medallion Architecture layers.
- Build and optimize data ingestion, transformation, and processing pipelines using Apache Spark.
- Lead customer solution design discussions, technical workshops, and architecture reviews.
- Mentor development teams and provide technical leadership on Databricks and data engineering.
- Optimize Spark workloads and design secure, reliable, highly available data solutions.
- Collaborate with data, DevOps, and cloud teams on end-to-end delivery.
- Support pre-sales with technical consulting, presentations, diagrams, and effort estimations.
Technical skills
- Strong Databricks, Python, SQL, and Apache Spark expertise is required.
- Experience with ETL/ELT pipelines, data modeling, partitioning, optimization, and performance tuning is required.
- Knowledge of data quality, governance, security, CI/CD, Git, and Agile practices is required.
- Cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform are preferred.
- Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Delta Live Tables, Databricks Workflows, MLflow, streaming, and Infrastructure as Code are preferred.
Collaboration expectations
The role requires customer-facing communication, stakeholder management, technical influence, problem-solving, collaboration, mentoring, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
The architect should work independently while collaborating effectively across distributed teams.
