Overview

AtkinsRéalis is seeking an experienced Senior Resident Engineer to lead and oversee site supervision for a large-scale development in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The role serves as the Consultant's on-site representative and covers construction delivery from execution through testing, commissioning, and handover.

The position requires leadership, technical expertise, stakeholder management, and experience with complex building and hospitality developments.

Role Responsibilities

  • Lead construction supervision, daily site operations, multidisciplinary inspection teams, contractor performance, and project schedule compliance.
  • Review contractor submissions, monitor progress and risks, chair coordination meetings, and implement corrective actions.
  • Oversee quality, HSSE, testing, commissioning, system integration, closeout, and resolution of RFIs and site issues.
  • Review payment certificates, variations, claims, extension of time requests, and contractor quality-control procedures.
  • Coordinate with clients, authorities, contractors, operators, and consultants, and report on progress, risks, quality, safety, and commercial matters.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related discipline is required.
  • At least 15 years of professional experience in construction and site supervision, including 8 years as a Resident Engineer on large-scale building projects.
  • Experience supervising convention centers, hotels, resorts, mixed-use developments, commercial complexes, or public buildings.
  • Strong knowledge of construction standards, quality systems, construction methods, inspection procedures, and project delivery.
  • Experience with FIDIC contracts, variations, claims evaluation, contract administration, and commercial matters.
  • Saudi Arabia or GCC project experience is highly preferred.
  • English fluency is required; Arabic is advantageous.

Additional Qualifications

  • A master's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Project Management is desirable.
  • Professional Engineer, Chartered Engineer, or equivalent certification is preferred.
  • Leadership, communication, negotiation, stakeholder management, report writing, presentation, and project controls software skills are required.
  • Familiarity with Saudi building regulations, authority approvals, and international building codes is required.
