Role Overview

The Senior Project Planner works with the existing team to deliver client projects and support continued professional development.

The role leads construction planning, scheduling, monitoring, and project control activities.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead planning engineers responsible for construction planning, scheduling, monitoring, and project control.
  • Assign work areas to planning engineers and ensure the Level III construction programme is developed.
  • Review and modify the Level III programme and develop Level IV schedules for critical construction areas.
  • Prepare the construction work breakdown structure and progress S-curves.
  • Agree progress reporting formats with customers and contractors.
  • Review tender and contract documents for construction planning and progress reporting requirements.
  • Review contractor programmes and resource deployment schedules with planning and discipline engineers.
  • Support approval of contractor schedules and resource deployment plans with construction management.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Report overall construction progress at agreed intervals.
  • Monitor work fronts, IFC drawing availability, free issue materials, contractor progress, and resource deployment.
  • Highlight contractor deficiencies through formal communication and prepare progress review slide packs.
  • Review meeting minutes and assist construction management with monitoring the internal construction management budget.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Graduate engineers should have at least 15 years of experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience as a Lead Engineer, Area Manager, or Superintendent is required in the oil and gas and chemicals sector.
  • A graduate engineering degree or engineering diploma in the relevant discipline is required.
  • Knowledge of construction activity sequences, durations, resource requirements, progress monitoring, and safe execution methods is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Primavera is required.
  • Teamwork, interpersonal skills, adaptability, integrity, and good communication are expected.
