About the Role
A commodity trading business in Dubai seeks an experienced Senior Middle Office Product Controller to provide independent oversight of trading performance, valuation integrity, and risk controls.

Responsibilities
- Produce and validate daily P&L across physical and derivatives trading book
- Deliver detailed P&L attribution and performance analysis
- Reconcile P&L across front office, operations, finance, and risk functions
- Investigate and resolve valuation and reconciliation breaks
- Analyse and explain market driven versus trading driven performances
- Monitor trading activity against approved risk limits, mandates, and policies
- Identify, investigate, and escalate limit breaches and control exceptions
- Provide independent challenge to trading activities where appropriate
- Support audits, governance reviews, and control framework enhancements
- Maintain robust, audit ready documentation and controls
- Independently validate trader marks and pricing assumptions
- Challenge valuation methodologies and market data inputs
Requirements
- 8–12+ years' experience within commodity trading
- Strong exposure to refined products markets, particularly gasoil, jet fuel, and naphtha
- Background in Product Control, Middle Office, Risk Control, or Trading Finance
- Demonstrable experience in P&L attribution, reconciliation, and valuation oversight
- Strong Python programming capability
- Experience developing analytics, automation, and reporting solutions
- Knowledge of mark to market valuation methodologies
- Understanding of futures, swaps, and options
- Advanced Excel and data analysis skills
- Strong governance and control mindset

The Role
- An exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Middle Office Product Controller to join a growing commodity trading business in Dubai.
- This is a high impact role at the intersection of Trading, Risk, Operations, and Finance.
Key Responsibilities
- Product Control & P&L Management: Produce and validate daily P&L, deliver detailed P&L attribution, reconcile P&L across functions, investigate breaks, analyse performance.
- Risk Oversight & Governance: Monitor trading activity against limits, escalate breaches, provide independent challenge, support audits and control enhancements.
- Valuation & Exposure Management: Independently validate trader marks, challenge methodologies, monitor exposures, identify risks, deliver exposure reporting.
- Analytics & Process Improvement: Develop automated tools using Python, enhance data integrity, support middle office infrastructure build out.
Candidate Requirement
- Experience: 8–12+ years in commodity trading, strong exposure to refined products (gasoil, jet fuel, naphtha), background in Product Control, Middle Office, Risk Control, or Trading Finance.
- Technical Skills: Strong Python, experience in analytics/automation, knowledge of mark to market valuation, understanding of futures/swaps/options, advanced Excel.
- Personal Attributes: Strong governance and control mindset, high integrity, excellent stakeholder management, proactive and solutions oriented.
