We are seeking an experienced Senior Planning Engineer / P6 Planner to support major projects in a Government entity Riyadh.

The role will be responsible for developing, maintaining, coordinating and challenging project schedules across multiple contractors, ensuring that the overall master plan is accurate, robust and aligned with project delivery requirements.

The successful candidate will work closely with the client team, engineering consultants, commercial teams and project leadership to monitor progress, identify risks, assess critical paths and provide clear reporting on schedule performance, plan versus actuals and potential delivery issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain and update the integrated project master schedule using Primavera P6.
  • Coordinate schedules from multiple contractors and ensure alignment with the overall programme requirements.
  • Review contractor plans for logic, robustness, accuracy, completeness and deliverability.
  • Ensure key dependencies, interfaces, milestones, activities and deliverables are clearly mapped and correctly sequenced.
  • Identify and monitor critical paths, near-critical paths and schedule risks.
  • Support regular schedule updates, baseline refreshes and progress reporting cycles.
  • Track plan versus actual performance and highlight delays, slippages and potential impacts.
  • Support project teams with clear reports, dashboards and management updates.
  • Call out risks, issues and potential delays early, with recommended mitigation actions.
  • Work with commercial and finance teams to support schedule-linked reporting, including progress weightings and financial performance inputs.
  • Review contractor submissions and challenge assumptions where plans are weak, incomplete or unrealistic.
  • Maintain accurate schedule records, assumptions, progress data and change history.
  • Support leadership with clear, concise reporting for decision-making.
  • Required experience
  • Minimum 13-20 years’ experience in planning, scheduling and project controls.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Primavera P6.
  • Experience working on major capital projects, infrastructure, real estate, construction, utilities, industrial or similar complex programmes.
  • Proven ability to manage and coordinate schedules across multiple contractors.
  • Strong understanding of baseline management, progress updates, critical path analysis, dependencies and schedule risk.
  • Experience supporting plan versus actual reporting, progress measurement and task weightings.
  • Ability to work directly from a client office in Riyadh, 5 days per week.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence working with contractors, consultants and client-side leadership.
  • Preferred skills
  • Experience in Saudi Arabia or the wider GCC.
  • Strong Excel and reporting capability.
  • Experience with dashboards, project controls reporting or Power BI would be an advantage.
  • Commercial awareness and ability to link schedule performance to financial reporting.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to challenge schedules constructively.
